About Porto Moniz

Is situated in the extreme Northwest of the Island of Madeira and is composed of four villages: Achadas da Cruz, Porto Moniz, Seixal and Ribeira da Janela covering an area of 8040 ha and a population of 2970 inhabitants.

In Porto Moniz you can visit the natural Swimming Pools, the Aquarium, the Live Science Centre and the Exhibition Cachalote.

If you wish you can also do the levada walks like the" levada da Ribeira da Janela" with very nice views of the landscape and you can walk through the "Laurissilva forest", native forest which was considered by UNESCO since 1999 World Heritage.
